Behind the Song
This song started with the line “come to my window.” That got tossed out, but the line made me think of seduction, and that’s what I wanted to evoke.
But along the way I added verses to show the development of a relationship. But it felt kind of clunky, like the result was two songs in one. And anyway, I’ve already written a few songs showing the arc of a relationship. I decided I wanted something simple.
So I cut out those other verses and just kept the image of a guy approaching a girl at a dance, when the music is thumping, the blood is pumping, and seduction is in the air.

Lyrics
I caught the glances you been throwing my way I know all the things you want to say so come on over, girl, the water is warm I don't bite, I won't do you no harm 'cause I can tell you want me just the same way I want you so let's stop wasting time that we could better spend on making a love brand new something true You don't have to tell me you've been burned before you got that trick of keeping one eye on the door and I'm no saint, you can see the stains on my sleeve I learned what happens when you kiss and leave but I can tell you want me just the same way I want you so let's stop wasting time that we could better spend on making a love brand new something true all these words get in the way let's let our lips have their say 'cause I can tell you want me just the same way I want you so let's stop wasting time that we could better spend on making a love brand new something true
