Behind the Song
I got into a spirited conversation with a good friend on some thorny topics. Emotions were high. But we talked, sharing reasons, mostly, instead of barbs.
I took that as inspiration, dramatized it, and came up with this song.

Lyrics
Two good men, they been friends keeping pace while the river bends by now they know how to land a blow to knock the other down. The river roils and these friends find they grab for land on different sides with plenty bombs but not so many bridges. We can talk or we can fight; if we talk it might come our right; maybe not, but we'll never know if each shove leads to blows. So give me your reasons, give me your reasons, give me you reasons, and I'll give you mine. I'll give you mine, I'll give you mine. So they try to talk it out they grit their teeth to stop a shout when doubletalk collides inside a single brain. But there's still love behind the teeth, they remember laughter after two-hours' sleep, a steady hand when they stumbled down a rocky hill. We can talk or we can fight; if we talk it might come our right; maybe not, but we'll never know if each shove leads to blows. So give me your reasons, give me your reasons, give me you reasons, and I'll give you mine. I'll give you mine, I'll give you mine. Can anyone ever change their mind? Or is reason passion's eager slave? Maybe if we are more than our beliefs, we can see outside the cage. So give me your reasons, give me your reasons, give me you reasons, and I'll give you mine. I'll give you mine, I'll give you mine.
